Wondering how to clean your waffle maker? Start simple: unplug it, let it cool, and wipe the plates with a soft damp cloth. Skip anything scratchy, and don’t rinse it under the tap. If you want to freshen it up even more, make a cleaning waffle.
A cleaning waffle is the quickest way to freshen up your waffle iron between uses or when you see the waffle maker needs a deeper cleaning. It helps lift excess grease and residue from the plates, so your next waffle tastes just like it should.
Why use cleaning waffle?
Think of it as a reset button for your waffle iron. Your waffle iron can do more than waffles. With heat from both the top and bottom, it’s also handy for toasting and heating a range of foods. If you’ve used the iron for anything other than waffles, we recommend making a cleaning waffle before baking sweet waffles again.
Ingredients
- 1/2 dl water
- 1 dl wheat flour
- 2 tbsp salt
How to do it
- Stir together the ingredients in a bowl.
- Take the batter into the waffle iron.
- Bake a waffle.
- The waffle maker will be clean and as good as new.
When should you make a cleaning waffle?
- After cooking anything oily or savoury
- If the plates look a bit greasy
- Before baking sweet waffles after using the iron for other foods
- When the iron has been stored away for a while
Tip! Use a dishwasher brush with a little water and gently scrub the waffle iron first.
