Avoid dry cough

So easily you can avoid the sour dry cough!

It's boring to catch a cold in the winter. Even more boring is catching a cold in the spring when you'd rather throw away your jacket.

Check out our five tips on how you can easily prevent the common cold, and the sour, sneaky dry cough that never goes away, no matter what you do. According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the flu season lasts until week twenty, which coincides with the week of May 17 this year. This means that you should take certain precautions to avoid the viruses that can put you out of action in those lovely spring days.

5 TIPS YOU CAN DO YOURSELF

  1. GOOD HYGIENE IS THE KEYWORD TO AVOID BEING INFECTED.

That means washing your hands often, and always before eating. It is the case that cold viruses can survive for up to a week on worktops and coins*, and therefore it is important that we keep our hands clean to avoid infection.

  2. AVOID CLOSE CONTACT WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE A COLD.

You should of course not avoid caring for a sick family member, but remember that the cold virus spreads quickly. Therefore, ventilate the bedroom well, and ask the sick person to cover their mouth with a paper handkerchief when they cough (which is thrown away immediately afterwards). Give them a kiss on the forehead rather than on the lips.

  3. EAT AND SLEEP STRONGLY.

If you have a good immune system, there is less chance of the cold virus taking hold. And even if it settles in your airways, the body will be equipped for a strong counterattack so that you will recover faster. A healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables, as well as more than 7 hours of sleep per night will help boost your immune system.

TIP! By juicing your own fruit and vegetables, you will more easily cover 5 a day. Not only is it healthy, it is also very fresh and tasty.

  4. CLEANING.

You don't need to have dust on your brain, but thorough cleaning can actually help remove cold viruses from the surfaces in your house. Remember exposed places such as door and drawer handles, keyboards, tablets, soap dispensers and keys!

  5. HAS YOU ALREADY BEEN INFECTED?

It is mainly respiratory infections that cause the troublesome cough many people get after a cold. To avoid cough balls, you should avoid breathing in freezing air, drink plenty of water and take cough suppressants. You shorten the coughing period if you give the body enough rest to cure itself.
