Almond butter is super easy to make in the blender. You don’t need many ingredients, and you can add flavour to suit your taste.
How to do it
- Roast the almonds on a baking tray lined with baking paper at 200 degrees for about 8 minutes, until golden.
- Leave to cool.
- Put the almonds in the blender.
- Start on low speed to mix, then increase the speed if needed. If the speed is too high, the almonds can stick to the sides of the jug – use a spatula or the tamper to push them back down so the blades can grab them. The almonds are first ground, then start to release their fat and turn thick, and after a while the mixture becomes more fluid and completely smooth.
- Blend until the almond butter is creamy. Depending on your blender, this takes about 5 minutes.
- Add salt, spices and your choice of sweetener. Blend well and taste to see if more salt or sweetness is needed.
- Pour into a bowl or an airtight jar for storage. It keeps well for weeks in the fridge.
