Making a wonderfully smooth and creamy hummus is surprisingly easy, especially if you have a good immersion blender like the Prostick.
How to make hummus with an immersion blender
-
Prep the base
Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. Place them in a large measuring cup or the chopper attachment of your immersion blender. Add the garlic, tahini, olive oil and lemon juice. -
Blend until smooth
Blend until completely smooth and creamy. If needed, stop and scrape down the sides to ensure an even texture. -
Adjust consistency
If the hummus is too thick, add a small amount of water and blend again until you reach your preferred consistency. -
Season to taste
Add flaky sea salt to taste and blend briefly to combine. -
Finish & serve
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little olive oil and sprinkle with paprika and finely chopped coriander for extra flavour and colour.
Tips:
- Swap coriander for parsley or leave the herbs out for a classic version.
- Add a pinch of cumin or smoked paprika for extra depth.
- For ultra-creamy hummus, warm the chickpeas briefly before blending.
